Athletic Bilbao is preparing to host the Women's Football Week, an international event that will bring together legends and stars of women's football in the city of Bilbao. From March 24 to 30, the capital of Vizcaya will be the epicenter of women's football, with a legends match between Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad, a meeting with Irene Paredes, and talks, workshops, and exhibitions. The vice president of Athletic, Nerea Ortiz, stated that it is a great honor for the club to host an event of this relevance. San Mamés is an emblematic place and today it becomes the ideal place to reflect and share the success of women's football. Athletic's commitment to women's football is firm and comes from a long time ago. The club was a pioneer in bringing women's football to San Mamés, and last year, Bilbao also hosted the final of the Women's Champions League. The Women's Football Week is an event that seeks to reflect on the present and future of women's football, and has the support of BBK, UN Etxea, and the Football Film Festival. Marian Otamendi, representative of World Football Summit, encouraged all social spheres to attend the different events of the program. The legends match between Athletic Bilbao and Real Sociedad is one of the highlights of the week, and also includes a meeting with Irene Paredes. The week will end with the celebration of the match between Athletic and Deportivo in Lezama, fundamental in the European aspirations of the block led by David Aznar. The involvement of Athletic's female squad in the planned events will be important, according to the club's vice president. Football is a very powerful tool and an instrument through which to spread values with the aim of building an equal society, reflected Kristian Prieto, representative of BBK.
