Fungus Invasion at Celta-Vigo's Pitch

Last weekend, La Liga had to make an unexpected decision: postponing the match between Celta de Vigo and Osasuna. The reason: the invasion of fungi on the Balaidos stadium pitch.

Weather Issues

The problem started in mid-July, when temperatures soared above 36 degrees Celsius during the day and did not fall below 20 degrees at night. Despite an inspection by La Liga, which initially declared the pitch fit for play, the weather conditions have worsened in recent weeks, deteriorating the state of the field.

Decisions and Reactions

La Liga decided to reschedule the match to Friday, August 27 at 8:30 p.m. However, the decision was not well received by Osasuna, which considers that La Liga has committed an administrative error and is unhappy with the new date, which falls on a weekday and makes it more difficult for their fans to travel to Vigo.

The match, originally scheduled for Sunday, August 20 at 8:30 p.m., was rescheduled to a more advantageous date for the Galician team, but not for their supporters, who now have to plan their trips with more advance notice.
