A generation of world champions born from Spanish academies

LaLiga reveals that 96% of the 26 players called up for the 2026 World Cup passed through internal development systems. Of these, 11 LaLiga EA Sports clubs directly contributed to the champion squad. Players who moved to other clubs generated over €466 million in transfers, excluding training rights revenue.

More academy graduates mean greater competitiveness

LaLiga leads the top five European leagues in minutes played by academy graduates, with 20.1% of total time. Athletic Bilbao tops with 69.5%, followed by Real Sociedad (55.2%) and Barcelona (47.5%). The three promoted teams also prioritize homegrown players: Málaga (57.3%), Racing (21.4%) and Deportivo (17.7%).

A model that shapes complete and adaptable players

The analysis highlights the adaptability of Spanish players, who won titles with distinct styles (Euro 2024 and World Cup 2026). LaLiga promotes a model combining sports and academic development, with projects in 15 countries. The plan includes key indicators like minor protection, infrastructure improvement, and dual sports-education pathways.
