LaLiga has decided to postpone Athletic Bilbao's La Liga matchday six fixture away to Levante UD. The league confirmed the game, originally scheduled for this weekend, will now be played on Wednesday, October 21 at 20:00 CEST at the Ciutat de València stadium.
The postponement came after an inspection found the pitch, affected by adverse weather conditions, did not meet the necessary standards for safe play. LaLiga issued an official statement on the rescheduling: "LaLiga has announced that the match will finally take place on Wednesday October 21 at 20:00 CEST at the Ciutat de València."
Squad plans
With the match called off, Athletic's travelling party will return to Bilbao tomorrow morning as originally planned. This allows the Basque side to focus fully on their next scheduled fixture, the derby against Deportivo Alavés at San Mamés on Saturday at 16:15, which remains unaffected. Athletic, who sit 10th in LaLiga with 8 points from two wins, two draws and two losses, now face an unexpected break. In their recent form, the team has taken 5 points from the last available, and has scored a total of 8 goals in their 6 matches, averaging a goal every 73 minutes. Their next opponent after Alavés is 12th-placed Rayo Vallecano in an away trip on October 10. Fans can check the full schedule on our fixtures page and the updated league standings.
