Bilbao Athletic reinforced their excellent form with a commanding 0-3 away win in the Basque derby against Arenas Club at the Fadura stadium. Bittor Llopis's side remains unbeaten after five matchdays in Primera RFEF, having collected three wins and two draws for a total of eleven points.

The match was decided by a brace from striker Txus Vizcay, who scored in the 33rd and 47th minutes, and a superb strike from Unai Lete in the 67th. Vizcay, who played for Arenas on loan last season, has now scored in three consecutive games. The reserve team controlled the game from the outset, creating numerous chances and offering few opportunities to a rival still searching for their first win this season.

Total control

Bilbao Athletic's superiority was evident from the first whistle. In the opening minutes, Selton and Lete forced early corners with deflected shots. The home goal held out until just past the half-hour mark, when Julen Conde stole the ball on the left flank and his cut-back was finished precisely by Vizcay. Almost immediately, Conde came close to doubling the lead with a delicate chip that brushed the crossbar.

After the break, the rojiblanco side killed the game off in a two-minute spell. Vizcay pounced on a rebound in the box to score his second, confirmed after a VAR check. Shortly after, a combination between Conde and Selton ended with a powerful low drive from Lete that found the bottom corner for the definitive 0-3. Goalkeeper Santos had little to do in the visiting goal.

Standings picture

This victory allows Bilbao Athletic to consolidate their place in the playoff spots of Group I. With eleven points, the reserve team is showing notable solidity at the start of the campaign.

In contrast, Arenas Club has now suffered four consecutive defeats and remains in the relegation zone with just one point. The Getxo-based side was further hampered by an injury to Pedroarena in the 10th minute, which complicated their game plan.

Bittor Llopis rotated his squad late on, giving minutes to Oyono, Kortut and Zarandona. The unbeaten reserve team's next fixture is at home in Lezama next weekend against CD Extremadura.
