Athletic Bilbao saw the birth of a unique jersey 22 years ago, known as the 'ketchup' jersey, designed by Darío Urzay. The jersey was used in a single game and is now a collector's item selling for around 700 euros.

What happened to the jersey?

The jersey was created by Darío Urzay for Athletic Bilbao to play in Europe, but it didn't appeal to a large part of the fans and the team.

Why is it important for Athletic Bilbao?

The jersey is a collector's item that now sells for hundreds of euros, and a hamburgueria in Bilbao has decided to give away replicas of it.

What comes next?

The hamburgueria Vicio, created by Aleix Puig, winner of the seventh edition of MasterChef, has opened its doors in Bilbao and has decided to give away the jersey replicas to customers who buy a combo of hamburger, fries, and drink.

The location of the restaurant was one of the reasons they decided to think about the jersey, whose number is precisely the address: «Pozas 57». The new design was carried out by the Bilbao-based graphic design studio Cuchillo. «What's groundbreaking always finds resistance, but you have to be brave. Redesigning Urzay's jersey is a tribute to a disruptive piece that we deeply admire», explains Rober Alonso, creative director of Cuchillo.
